Best Bit: “God loves his children / God loves his children /Yeah …” *cue main riff*
Best Bit: I don’t often have reason to say this – but the best bit is the key change.
Best Bit: The launch into the final verse when the whole song steps up a notch and suddenly sounds a whole lot darker.
Best Bit: The instrumental bridge.
Best Bit: The opening shout of “I backed my car into a cop car, the other day ..”
Best Bit: It’s all about the lyrics (which have exactly nothing to do with the video). I’d go with the heartbreaking, “What if I was not your only friend in this world? Would you take me where you’re going if you’re never coming back?”
Best Bit: Ground Control have lost contact with Major Tom. We cross back to Major Tom, now all alone out in space – “Here am I floating round my tin can …”
What’s my opinion on Kings of Leon? Well I’m glad you asked!
I like their old stuff, don’t like their new stuff, and think this middle-era album (‘Because of the Times’) had its moments. I especially like this track from it – mostly because of those really impressive and rather strange scream/squeals.
These guys are one of the long-running stalwarts of the Perth music scene. They seem to have been on the line-up for every major local music festival for the past 20 years or more. They’re probably more known for hard rocking, but in this one where they pulled it back and gave us something really heartfelt – it was incredible.
A great one for parties. Used to love playing it when I was a DJ. The only time it didn’t get a good reaction was at an 18th birthday … and I probably should have seen that coming anyway.
